KARMA CLEANING—THE HEALING OF MEMORIES

I tried to outmaneuver the next cosmic secret agent who was sent to help me unravel the story of my fear. Her name is Elizabeth Lawrence, and she is a Mari-El healer. Mari-El is a system for healing old memories without regard for when in time and space they might have occurred. The story of Mari-El is fascinating. A woman by the name of Ethel Lombardi had been a Reiki healer (a system of healing in which the healer acts as a conduit for divine light) for many years. Her own health, however, was failing.

On an airplane to the Mayo Clinic to receive treatment for a failing heart, she experienced a miraculous healing—a spontaneous and complete restoration of her heart to normal—when a rainbow entered the airplane and bathed her in its light. Subsequently, Ms. Lombardi “received” instructions for a new type of healing through a feminine energy that she experienced as Mary, the mother of Jesus. In this system, Mary and her angels are called upon to oversee the healing which consists of drawing out and transforming traumatic memories that are stored in the body’s seven subtle energy systems, or chakras. The system is called Mari-El healing (Mari from Mary, and El from Elohim, a Hebrew word for God).

Beth Lawrence is a pastoral counselor with a background in traditional psychotherapy as well as Mari-El healing. She happens to live a few minutes down the street, but I didn’t know her until she called one day, hoping to meet me and get together for a talk. She offered me a Mari-El treatment. I was not enthusiastic. Through the years I have had lots of offers to experience different kinds of therapies, and, if they are useful, a Pandora’s box of unfinished business usually opens. I was not in the mood to go sorting through Pandora’s box at that time, or to pour out my soul to a stranger. I politely declined. But Beth was persistent. Eventually we met for coffee and over time became friends. When a bridge of trust had formed, I agreed to have a Mari-El session.

It made perfect sense to me that old, unhealed memories would be stored in the body and in the body’s subtle energy system. Many body-workers have experienced this when they treat a particular part of the body and a flood of emotions, often accompanied by specific memories, erupts. Old grief, for example, is sometimes stored as the proverbial lump in the throat. Before each session Beth would invoke her helpers in the unseen world, the Mari-El angels, and pray for the best possible outcome for me. Then, as I lay comfortably relaxed on the floor, she would focus her attention on my field of subtle energy. Holding her hands above my eyes, for example, she would ask me what I saw. And astonishing memories would come to mind.
