Chapter Ten

Holly was grateful for the low lighting coming from the deck but knew it didn’t hide the crimson blush of her cheeks. Show me your bed? Smooth, Holly. Nerves kept pace with the desire thrumming through her, enough that it took her a second to realize he was staring down at her, his fingers paused on the soft skin of her stomach.

“Stop,” he whispered.

“What?” Had she messed something else up? One of her hands was on his neck, the other on his chest so what could she have done wrong?

“You’re thinking so loud it’s distracting me. You’re perfect, Holly. Exactly as you are.”

She started to shake her head in disagreement but he took her chin between his thumb and index finger, keeping her still. Her breath hitched as he lowered his face to kiss her forehead, his hand moving to smooth back her hair.

She didn’t bite her tongue before blurting out her next concern. “You’ve probably been with far more sophisticated women.”

Cash pulled back, looked at her like she was losing it. “Are you serious?” His voice was a rough whisper.

Maybe no light would be better. Except, then it’d be hard to see him. And she really wanted to see all of him. “I’m sorry. I don’t know why I keep talking. I’m just nervous. I babble when I am and I’ve never been with anyone like you. I mean, I’ve only been with a couple guys in total but now you can see why—”

His mouth came down on hers hard and insistent. That was one way to shut her up. She sure wished he’d thought of it before she’d said all that other stuff. His hand roamed along the column of her neck, his fingers dancing down the center of her body. Pleasant shivers pushed all thought from her head.

When he pulled back, just enough to see her, she knew she looked dazed. His kisses caused a Cash-induced trance.

“I’ve never brought a woman to my home. Never to my bed. Until you.”

She sucked in a sharp breath, feeling like her heart doubled in size. She nodded in understanding. That this was different for him as well. Knowing that removed the final layer of nerves, leaving nothing but want.

“Okay,” she whispered as she arched up into him. He smelled like cologne and soap, a delicious combination that drove her crazy.

His smile was equal parts sexy and sweet. He held her gaze—like he was reading her—as his fingers trailed over her stomach, beneath her shirt. One finger dipped into her belly button causing a full body tremor. Lowering his head, his lips were against her skin when she heard him murmur, “Okay.”

Holly anchored her hands in his dark hair as his body pressed into her. She didn’t know how Cash could kiss her like he had all the time in the world but couldn’t get enough.
