Nature Center
The center includes environmental exhibits, classrooms, and a display of 61 species of native butterflies. Call for nature program schedule; naturalists also lead tours outside of Castellow Hammock Preserve.
Nature Trail
The self-guided trail through the hammock is 0.5 miles one way; rocky and narrow (not handicapped-accessible). Some trees likely to be seen along the trail are wild-tamarind, mastic, gumbo-limbo, pigeon-plum, paradise-tree, lancewood, and West Indian cherry. Look for limestone solution holes along the way.
DIRECTIONS
Preserve is south of Miami in Goulds, half-mile south of SW 216th Street.
