Production Draft
âCan we publish yet?â
- 3:30 am, every Script Coordinator
Youâve made it to production! Congrats! Now, any misspellings, forgotten pages, dropped scenes, or other mistakes will be broadcast to 300 people and, boy, theyâre going to love to let you know when youâve overlooked something.
So, a few things to know about production drafts. This is, in theory, the first time most of your crew is seeing the script, including actors. Before you publish the draft, itâs a good idea to do a full, slow reread of it (not just the updated revisions) to catch anything that you may have missed. For example, a character might now refer to the actions in an earlier scene as happening âyesterdayâ â but if thereâs not a day break somewhere between those two, itâs not going to track, and costumes isnât going to know when people should change wardrobe. Stuff like that. But donât worry, weâll go through it.
Youâre also going to be adding a few new tricks into the body of the script and a few new pages into the published document. Take a deep breath â thereâs plenty of time to freak out later.
First thing weâre going to do is add numbers to the scenes. This is straightforward at this stage of the game. Production > Scene Numbers. Choose these options and hit OK.
