ADLER VON BACHMANN

The Monsterbanes stared at the amethyst coffin in front of them, their faces looked frustrated.

The reason was clear. The whole being of one Adler von Bachmann, the hero and the Paladin of Light who was supposed to lead the restoration effort in Sylvania was like frozen to death in the solid substance. The whole expression and pose were like someone being pushed or backstabbed by surprise, without any chance to resist.

The loss of the leader and initiator was a great drawback to the process of restoring Sylvania to its former glory as the Land of the Enlightening Sun.

“We’re too late,” said Alec Damian, gritting his teeth.

“Well, it’s not. He’s still breathing now,” Merlin commented. “The most important thing is, you’ve brought me along until we came into this position. Now, hand that task over to me and witness my magic at work.”

Merlin chanted a complex spell, while he put one hand over the coffin. Slowly but surely, he inserted a freezing wave throughout the violet surface. From Alec’s point of view, it was like a Popsicle in a freezer compartment of the refrigerator.

The process continued until the whole particles of the gem were frozen. And then Merlin simply touched it with a concentrated, intense heat on the tip of his point finger. As a result, the coffin broke into purple dust with a sound like shattering glass, leaving the figure of an armored, one-armed man limping and collapsing at once on the floor.

“Ser Adler!” Alec hurriedly came over to support his favorite character in EON, whom now he met in person. The thing was, was the Borgian hero dead or alive after being exposed to extreme magic?

To make sure, Simone the cleric put one finger in front of Adler’s nostrils. “Thank Vadis, he’s still breathing!” he exclaimed. “Now give me some space so I can make him conscious again. Viavitali!”

Measuring the severity of his condition, Simone applied the Great Heal spell continuously. Until at one point, Adler in Alec’s lap regained consciousness by coughing.

“Thank Vadis you’re awake, Ser Adler!” said Alec, his face full of gratitude and relief.

However, in line with his arrogant nature, Adler stared and scolded his rescuers. “Who are you?” he rebuked. “What is your business with me, that made you come here and rescue me?”

“Oh, sorry, where are my manners?” replied Alec while putting Adler in the sitting position. “I am Alec Damian, and those are my companions. Merlin Azrabel has guided us here to rescue you.”

Adler frowned. “Why?!” he asked resentfully.

“Because you hold the key and all the answers about why the Summoner gained Arachus and the Dark Forces as his new allies, among many other things,” Merlin answered more curtly like a king to his regent, demanding reports about the management of his kingdom while he was away.

“We might have some ideas about the Summoner’s next move, but with complete information from you, we’ll have a clearer picture of how to defeat him,” said Alec. “You want a payback from the Summoner, the Breeder, and Arachus for what they’ve done to you, right? We can help you with that.
