CHAPTER 10

THEY’D ALL BEEN working so hard, none more so than Willow. During the day she trained, alternating between combat lessons, learning how to be a witch, meditating and honing her Oracle abilities and studied her fae abilities under Cosmo. At night, she often left to go do more studying or sparring. She’d turned into a machine. He was really proud of her dedication, but everyone deserved a night off every now and then.

Today he’d had everyone wrap up earlier. They all cheered when they found out that they wouldn’t be required to train all day as usual.

Everyone chattered loudly, making plans for a rare off night. He grabbed Willow’s hand. “Hey... I have special plans for us.”

Her face lit up in a way he hadn’t seen in a long time and it made him glad he’d given everyone the rest of the day off so they could spend time together. Things had slowly started to return to normal between them.

“Tell me what you have planned?”

“Where’s the fun in that? It’s supposed to be a surprise.”

She poked out her lip in a cute pout. “Please tell me.” She begged sexily by coming closer and rubbing her nose and lips along the column of his throat.

He bit his lip and chuckled. “Not going to work. It’s staying a surprise.”

Quickly, she pulled away. “I was so sure that would work. Clearly, I’m off my game.”

He chuckled some more and gave her a quick kiss. “We need to shower and get changed. Wear something dressy.”

“Ooh.”

Her excitement was contagious as they walked to the apartment to get ready for the date night he’d planned. He was tempted to shower with her, but thought better of it. If they did that they’d never leave the bedroom and tonight he wanted to give her a night of romance. They could roll around in the sheets later. Like a true gentlemen, he let her have the bathroom first. After about an hour he started to think maybe he’d made a mistake in letting her go first. When she finally emerged from the bathroom in the pale pink, diaphanous dress she wore that night of the dinner party, any irritation he was feeling disappeared. “Wow. You look amazing... I was hoping you’d wear that tonight.” He stood and walked towards her.

When he reached out to grab her she batted him away playfully. “Not until after your shower.”

“Before I shower, I have something for you.” He walked over to his top drawer and took out a small gift box and handed it to her.

“This is for me?” The bright smile that lit up her face made him happy.

“Open it.”

Quickly, she tore off the wrapping paper, letting the bits of paper fall to the ground. When she opened the box it revealed an intricately carved silver bracelet with a greenish colored gemstone in the center.

“It’s a talisman.”

“Like the one all of you wear?” Her voice was full of awe as she took it out of the box.

“Yes, except I had yours made of silver so that it would match your necklace.
