“What time are you leaving?” Felicia asked when they were having coffee on the roof terrace. They’d had a morning swim and were now sitting next to the pool, still in their bikinis. Kate looked amazing in a white triangle bikini with beaded strings. Her hair was pulled back in a white hairband and she wore her signature hoops in her ears.

“Not until five.” Kate glanced up from her cup and smiled at her. She wished she’d booked an extra night now, but it was too late for that. She couldn’t cancel her meeting tomorrow, certainly not after already moving it once. “Are you busy today?”

“No. Nothing until my very last fitting contract which starts on Tuesday.” Felicia paused as she seemed to contemplate something. “Hey, can I come with you? To Chiang Mai, I mean? I’ve never been there but I’ve heard it’s beautiful.”

Kate frowned at the unexpected proposal. The idea hadn’t crossed her mind, but the prospect of another two nights with Felicia was simply too enticing to turn down. Besides, it was just a factory visit, not some official meeting where they’d set targets or negotiate pricing for hours. It would be more of a casual trip. Then a feeling of unease came over her. Wasn’t it risky though, bringing Felicia along? Wouldn’t it get too personal between them, if she involved her in the most important aspect of her life? She already felt a lot closer to her than she’d expected, and it scared her a little. Taking a trip together meant there was nowhere to escape. But why would I want to escape from her? I love being with her.

“Come on, it’s just a couple of days,” Felicia continued, seeing Kate’s hesitation. “It will be fun, and I’ll keep myself busy while you’re working, you won’t even know I’m there.”

“Okay,” Kate said. “Sure, that would be nice. I’m taking the overnight train tonight. I’ve got a private sleeper booked to myself, so you’ll be able to get on, even if the seats are sold out. I’m flying back to New Orleans on Saturday though, so you’ll have to make your own way back.”

“That’s fine, I’m a big girl. So, overnight train?” Felicia arched a brow. “That sounds great. You, me, a quiet cabin… Have you ever done anything naughty on a train before?”

Kate laughed, almost snorting her coffee up her nose. “Is that really all you can think about?” She had to admit, it was the first thought that had entered her mind too.

“Yes.” Felicia grinned. “It is, I seem to have a one track mind when you’re around.”

“Okay…” Kate blushed and hid behind her giant cappuccino cup. She seemed to blush a lot lately. “Well, I guess I haven’t. You?”

“Nope. So it’s about time we get to experience that, don’t you think?”

“Absolutely.” Kate shuffled a little closer to Felicia on the sunbed they were sharing, making sure they still kept a respectable distance in the public space. They already had some eyes on them, mostly from men, of course.
