Chapter 20

The next several days went by without issue. I had stuck around the boss room and was helping multiple groups from my class, as well as advising several groups from Class B.

I was in the dungeon, watching yet another fight, and trying not to roll my eyes as the Harem Queen chose that moment to once again try to seduce me.

“Really?” She held my arm lightly, not exerting any pressure but letting me know she was there as she pressed her soft chest against me. “I am so excited for what this monster means for you. If this is even half of what propelled Crimson forward, you are going to shine bright among humanity.”

The room roared as mud splashed everywhere but stopped short of us. The party shouted as they got hit. Things weren’t looking so good for this group. Thankfully, I had gotten [Revive] from Charlotte.

The Harem Queen wasn’t really paying that much attention to the fight. Her eyes were locked solely on me. “You know, my daughter would make a wonderful tank. She’s so nurturing and protective.”

“The tank position in my party is taken,” I tried to rebuff her.

But my statement didn’t even phase her. “Oh, don’t be like that. You’ll need several in a raid setting, and even then, you’ll probably need a rotation so that you don’t get bored. Trust me, I understand you better in that regard than most.” She winked. “But Helen is such a kind girl.”

“You realize that she hates me, right?” I faced the Harem Queen. The party had gained on the boss; they were going to win.

“Really? She writes that lovely story about you.”

I deadpanned. “You know as well as I do that she’s not the one writing that.”

The Harem Queen sighed. “Yes, and that she’s only using you as an excuse to escape me, but a mother can hope that her daughter gets into a good relationship. Heaven knows that she’s been so angry about everything since that boyfriend of hers freshman year.”

Hearing a gap in Helen’s armor, I pushed. “She hasn’t told me about this.”

“It’s her story to tell, not mine.” The Harem Queen waved away the topic.

I wasn’t done yet. “You slept with her boyfriend?” I asked incredulously.

The Harem Queen became legitimately angry at that question. “No, that would be absolutely hideous of me. I would never do such a thing, and to drop accusations like that without proof to high-level adventurers is how you end up never coming out of the dungeon.”

I raised an eyebrow. Her reaction had been far more intense than I had expected.

“Oh, don’t look at me like that. I have every right to be upset when you make an accusation like that. Look, I didn’t sleep with him, but he was an asshole from the start.”

“So he tried to sleep with you.”

“He came into my room, calling me a whore and offering himself. I quite literally kicked him to the curb. I had to pay some hospital bills because he broke his pelvis and had a daughter who refused to talk to me for a year because of it.
