Now that I'd had a few days to process what Duncan had told me, I had to learn as much as I could by myself. There would be things he didn't think were important, but those facts could be significant to me.

Duncan had come home early that day, and I chose not to have dinner with them. I needed to do research. My mind was spinning with all of the information he’d given me. I'd never had a hint of this the last time Duncan and I were together. I knew his hearing was crazy good, but I'd never considered it odd because it was the only thing about him that was out of the ordinary.

I searched my mind as I booted up my laptop. Had I missed signs? No. He did disappear once in a while, but men did that. They had their male bonding time. He always had an explanation, and I knew in my soul that Duncan wouldn't cheat on me. Now I knew why I'd felt that so strongly.

Fated mate. Hmm.

I didn’t know what to think about that, but I was getting used to the idea. There were worse people, ahem, dragons, that I could be hitched to for the rest of my life. I wasn’t ready to settle down, but that was okay. Duncan didn’t seem to be in any hurry, either.

My laptop was older and took some time to get ready. I set it on my lap and rested my head on the back of my couch. Dragons. What did I know about dragons that Duncan hadn't told me?

Some guy named St. George defeated one supposedly. I always thought that was a legend, but maybe it hadn’t been. The lore talked about them capturing damsels and knights saving them. I tapped my chin. “Was that propaganda?”

Maybe those stories had been used to malign dragons. Or get people to believe that they didn't exist. Were those stories circulated on purpose? By dragons? That would mean that at some point, humans knew that dragons existed.

“Hmm.”

What kind of world would it be if humans had known about these creatures? "Which leads me to wonder why that information has been lost and was that why dragons were being hunted now?" Maybe we humans forgot that we once coexisted with dragons. “I wonder what other creatures are real.”

My laptop finally came to life. Because I was a little suspicious, I downloaded a different browser that I knew didn't track what you did online. No one needed to know that I was looking up dragons. They might have me put away. I certainly wouldn't be allowed around children.

I worried for no reason.

The absence of information on dragons was odd. Or maybe not.

When I searched for dragons, I mostly came up with books on Amazon and Barnes and Noble for dragon shifters. Some hot-looking men on the covers, but none of them held a candle to Duncan. They were all big and muscled like him, but their eyes lacked the colors his could be.
