Brian Roberson was brought to trial in August 1986. Since he had already confessed to the murders, the main issue to be decided was his sentence. And since he had so brutally slaughtered an elderly couple, and had committed the crime in America’s foremost death penalty state, it was always likely that he would pay the ultimate price.

Roberson was put to death by lethal injection on August 9, 2000. During his trial, and in its aftermath, he had been remorseful of his actions and respectful of his victims. He tarnished that with his final statement. “To all of the racist white folks in America that hate black folks and to all of the black folks in America that hate themselves, in the infamous words of my famous, legendary brother Nat Turner – y’all kiss my black ass.” He then taunted the victim’s family before the lethal drugs began to flow. He was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m.
