Chapter 15
Sienna
The soft sound of snoring that woke me the next morning probably should've irritated me, but instead, I smiled to myself. If someone told me a few months ago that Iâd be charmed by the sound of a vampire male snoring beside me, Iâd have thought they were nuts. Then again, Dominic wasnât just a vampire male. He was my male, and each moment I got to spend with him was precious.
He let out a grunt and rolled to his side, slinging an arm around my hips. Still sleeping, he let out a little growl and flexed against me, letting me feel his hard length pressing against my thigh.
Something hot stirred inside me, but I tamped it down with a sigh. If I wanted more nights like last and more mornings like this, however fleeting the fates made them be, I needed to get my ass in gear.
I made quick, quiet work of getting ready and left the room with one last glance at the bed. He didnât require nearly as much sleep as I did, but last night had been a particularly late one for him. He, Raven, Nicholas, and Will had stayed in Dianaâs war room deep into the night, discussing strategies along with Lycan, the Duchess and Loch long after Iâd gone to the Queenâs study⦠And long after Iâd headed straight to Dominicâs quarters rather than back to the war room because I needed time alone to process what Iâd learned.
The smile faded from my lips as I closed the door softly and made my way down the hall.
Donât fall down that dark, depressing rabbit-hole. You have work to do.
I rounded the corner and headed toward the quarters Iâd shared with Bee. When I stepped inside, I found her already awake and donning a pair of boots.
âI was wondering if Iâd find you here, or if you were in Willâs roomâ¦â
She let out an indelicate snort. âNot quite. Heâs so busy feasting on shame and guilt for something he didnât even mean to do, I donât think he sees me at all right now. Which, I really wish he did, because I look amazing. Get a load of this skin, Sienna,â she continued, beaming as she rushed to the full-length mirror in the corner of the room. âNo annoying little spots, or blemishes. No tiny, fine line between my eyes reminding me that I frown too much. I look like I just spent a month at a spa in Paris or somewhere fancy like that, donât I?â
âAmazing what ingesting pints of someone elseâs blood could do for a girl,â I almost replied. Instead, I swallowed the acidic response. She didnât deserve that. Despite Willâs current mental state, heâd come around and soon, theyâd be together. Forever, assuming they survived the coming war.
Because they were both immortal now.
An ache spread across my chest, but I managed a smile.
âYou look beautiful, Bee. But you always were.â
She rolled her eyes and wheeled around to face me. âExactly what a friend would say.
