“C’mon Matt, talk to me.” I begged him from outside the door to his bedroom. This had been the room I’d come to that night. The night my dad sliced my throat. His home, this home was one I’d spent my nights in, programming, building my empire and now he was fucking hiding from me. “Please?”

“Nah, not now Lex.” Hurt lacing his voice.

“How long are you gonna be mad for?” I placed myself on the floor, my back and head against the door.

“Long enough, I’m not mad.”

“Yes you are.”

“Well, maybe a little bit,” the door opened, and I was now laying on his bedroom floor, in his doorway, he tilted his head as he rolled his eyes. “Get up.” He mumbled as he stepped over me. I was reaching for his leg as I hauled myself off his floor.

“I’m sorry man, I should have told you sooner.” I confessed. I knew I sounded like the biggest softest piece of mush, but it was true. “I feel awful for hiding it from you.”

“Yeah, you fucking should have.” He folded his arms against his chest. “When you disappear, are you with her?”

I simply nodded. “Yeah,” I chewed the inside of my mouth, my shoulders rose and fell. “I like the girl Matt, really fucking like her. She’s magic.”

“She’s Henry’s baby Lex.” I was scowling again.

“Just meet her? The real her?” I placed my hands together in a prayer motion. He struggled to hide his smile.

“Look here, Lex Caddel on his knees begging his best friend for something.” I laughed at his snide remark. A sigh left him. “Fine.” He was shaking his head. “I’ll meet Trouble.” I was grinning then.
