The next morning my eyes flew open at five o’clock exactly. I was instantly energized and took no time getting out of bed. The girls were both sitting on the window seat, talking so quietly that it looked like they were merely mouthing the words.

“Good morning, ladies,” I said on my way to the shower.

“Good morning,” they echoed in unison.

Fifteen minutes later, as I was putting my shoes on, there was a knock at the door. It was Charlie. Kennedi let him in, and the four of us sat around the table in the living room of the suite.

“Okay, correct me if I am wrong,” Charlie started. “Obviously, we need to confirm that Murai’s contract with Omnicorp is coming to an end, and Murai has no intention of resigning with them.”

“Yes,” I said.

“If that pans out, then we need to address the possibility of manufacturing the device you have in mind to take the place of having to crack nano-wires for modifications.” He paused.

“Yes,” I said again.

“Good,” Charlie said. He opened up a briefcase he’d brought with him and shuffled through some papers before pulling one out and reading it. “Then would come the conversation about using Isamu’s nano-glass for the refurbishing project we chatted about last night. If that were to come to fruition.”

“That’s right,” I confirmed. “Here is my only question, though. If it all comes down to us only needing nano-glass for modification devices, what would spur Isamu to accept that offer? We wouldn’t be using a fraction of the amount of glass he sells to Omnicorp.”

“I had the same thought last night,” Charlie said. “I’m not sure what the answer to that is.”

“My only response to my own question is that Isamu knows we don’t currently require any glass at all, so he may have something in mind that we aren’t privy to,” I told Charlie.

Kennedi chimed in, “It’s too bad that nano-glass is so functionally specific.” The second the words left her mouth, it was like my mind was hit by lightning.

“Yes!” I shouted. “That could be the answer!” I stood up and bent over, putting my hands on the table.

“What?” Charlie and both girls asked at the same time.

“Up until now, nano-glass has been functionally specific to CGs, just like Kennedi said,” I was still shouting with excitement. “What if we suggested alternate uses for it?” I stood up and waited for my words to sink in.

“Like what, though?” Charlie finally asked.

“Like--”

“ART!” Kennedi cut me off.

“Yes!” I agreed. Charlie raised an eyebrow at me, and overall just looked confused. I sat back down and continued. “When Kennedi and I were at the event, we ran into Samuel.”

“The glass-blower?” Charlie asked.

“Yes! The glass-blower,” I confirmed. “He gave Kennedi a glass blowing lesson, and we found out that he uses nano-glass scraps in his work. It is how he gets such a unique look in his work.”

“I had no idea,” Charlie said, sitting back in his seat and crossing his arms.

“Well, when I found out, it made me reconsider the design for the mod device that I had in mind.
