“You’d think they’d treat the devil a little better,” he whispered through the grate. Not He, but he that thought I was either God or the devil.

I nodded. “You would.”

That’s when the light bulb exploded above me, and my world was plunged into darkness.

“this seems strange.”

It was his voice. I felt an odd burning across my face and throat. I began screaming as the smell of diesel fuel filled my nostrils.

The guards pulled at the door. One of them said it was stuck.

The fuel burned with a wet frozen touch along my skin, sapping the warmth from me. A match flared bright yellow as the little match head burned. The sudden light blinded me. “No, no, no,” I begged.

“I miss you, baby,” Candy said in the match light. She smiled and flicked the match at me.

I screamed as the door to my cell burst open. Light flooded the room, and I saw a long shadowy thing dive into the drain of the toilet sink.
