Whenever Stacey fell off her horse as a child, her dad would tell her to climb right back on.
She thought about that as she fell off Tracker, landing in an exhausted flop on the mattress. Because sheâd just ridden him for, like, miles, and there was no way she was getting back in the saddle.
For at least half an hour.
Her breath came in fits, raspy, painful fits as she lay there, spread-eagled on her back, one arm hanging off the bed, one lying across his chest, but she wouldnât have it any other way.
That was the best sex sheâd ever had.
âTonight,â she rasped, âyouâre not sleeping on the couch.â
âI wasnât planning on it.â
She shivered at the masculine possession in his voice. Shivered, but didnât move. And when he trailed the backs of his fingers along the underside of her arm in long, languid strokes, she went completely liquid. She was never moving again.
Night had fallen at some point, leaving them engulfed in darkness and surrounded by silence broken only by the sound of their labored breathing.
âI lost count of my orgasms.â She swallowed dryly, wishing sheâd had the foresight to bring a glass of water to bed. But theyâd been in such a hurry, kissing their way across the floor, leaving a trail of clothes and hay as they went.
âThree in the barn,â he said. âAnd three in the bedroom.â
She laughed at the fact that heâd not only counted but had taken her words so literally.
She hadnât lost count at all, and heâd missed one. Sheâd had four in the barn.
âSo,â she said, losing herself in the tingles his touch left on her skin. âTell me something about you that I donât know.â
âWhy?â
âPillow talk. Itâs something people do after sex.â
âOh.â She felt him tense, and she was about to tell him he didnât have to talk if he didnât want to when he took a deep breath. âI donât have to chain myself up on nights of the full moon, but I do.â
She turned her head to look at him, but she could barely make out his features. âWhy donât you have to chain yourself?â
âIâm Pricolici. I was born a werewolf, so I can control myself after the shift. Iâm not a danger to humans.â
Sheâd read that born werewolves could control themselves much better than those who were turned, but she hadnât known how far that increased sense of self-awareness extended. âThen why would you chain yourself?â
âBecause my pack instinct is strong.â He sounded annoyed by that. âWhen I shift, I crave companionship, even if my pack mates are assholes.â
She sagged into the mattress so far her spine felt like it hit the floor. He must be so lonely. âWhat if I were to sit with you? Next time you shift?â
âYou would do that?â Before she could answer, he shook his head. âNo. I said Iâm not a danger to humans, but with youâ¦â
âWith me, what?â
Silence stretched. Finally, a growled, âBut with you I might be.â
âYou wouldnât hurt me.
