THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS
We all think different thoughts all day long.
Some of these thoughts we are aware of.
We know they are there.
We âhearâ them.
Some of these thoughts we are not aware of.
We donât know they are there.
We canât âhearâ them.
When these thoughts are positive and make us feel happy or relaxed, that is great!
But sometimes these thoughts make us feel bad (thoughts like âI canât do thisâ or âEverybody is looking at meâ).
Sometimes they even make us avoid things we really want to do.
The good news is that research shows that YOU have the power to change negative thoughts to positive thoughts.
Doing this helps your body and mind be more relaxed and happy.
Here are some great positive thoughts:
â¢I can do this.
â¢I am a good person.
â¢The world is full of good things.
â¢I am strong.
â¢I am in control.
â¢All I need to do is try.
â¢I just havenât figured this out YET.
If you feel anxious in your body, or notice an anxious thought, try saying one of these positive thoughts out loud or in your head.
You might need to say it a few times, or even lots of times.
You can come up with your own calming thoughts or phrases, all the WONDERFUL, POSITIVE things about YOU and how CAPABLE you are.
It is easy to forget about using this tactic, especially when you are feeling anxious.
So it is a good idea to keep a reminder close, like a special bracelet or a list of your positive thoughts in your pocket or phone.
You could even draw a tiny picture on your hand to remind you (since you see your hands a lot during the day).
Try saying your positive thoughts in the morning when you wake up, or before a stressful situation like a party.
The more you say them, the more you will believe them!
