After a while, I open my eyes to see Bear staring down at my tummy, even though I know I’m not showing yet.

“What time is it, babe?” I ask, yawning my head off.

He checks his phone. “Shit, I better finish the lawn, darlin’; I still gotta get cleaned up.”

“That’s OK, I’ve gotta go put my pies inside—well, six of them. The rest are just for you,” I can’t stop the blush spreading over my face at the thought of his personal pies as I go to get up off the chair.

Bear pulls me back into his lap, grinning. “Oh no you don’t, darlin’. I know that look; what pies have you made me?”

Damn him and damn my face!

“Nothing special; you’ll just have to wait until later to try them. I'll keep them in their container and hide them in the kitchen cabinet.”

“OK. I’ll come catch up with you in a bit, OK? Be careful, darlin’.”

I pick up the cooler of pies, and as I am walking towards the clubhouse door, Bear shouts at the top of his voice, “We can eat those in bed later!”

OH MY GOD!

I think I just might die of embarrassment as Wrench, Dagger, and Tinhead turn to stare at me and Bear.

Someone shoot me now!
