CONSEQUENCES OF LEAD PULLING
Dogs use their senses to determine how to deal with an approaching dog or person. Their sight and hearing provide them with some information, but their sense of smell will tell them everything they need to know. If a stranger is approaching and your dog is in front of you, he will be nearer to that stranger than you are and, as the distance between you reduces, the dog will begin picking up information about the person (or it may be an approaching dog) and decide how to react. He will see his reaction to the situation as being his decision to make because he was in front and taking control of the lead.
