The bell rings, and we all go out to recess. It’s a beautiful fall day! I lie down in the grass and look at the clouds.

Lucy asks, “What are you doing?”

“Looking at nature is a wonderful way to get inspired,” I tell her. “A lot of great artists paint deserts, oceans, and forests.”

“Do you want to paint or play?” she asks. “It’s recess time!”

I think for a minute. Then I jump up for a game of freeze tag.

After school, when we enter the art studio, there are cans of soup on all the tables.

Ryder says, “YUM, I love soup!”

“Don’t get too excited,” Georgia tells him. “We’re not going to eat the soup.”

“Georgia is right,” says Mr. Lee. “We’re going to paint them!”

He shows us a slide show of paintings in bright colors. We see shoes, soup cans, and portraits. They’re all painted in bright colors. Some are neon orange, pink, turquoise, and lime green. The colors are so fun!
