âIâm going for an hour,â Bane told me as I sat on his bed, eyes dulled in boredom. âYou are not to leave this room, understand?â
I tipped my head up, smirking. âMake me.â
He only smiled. âOh, I already have.â
He then waved outside the room, eyes glowing in amusement as a man with dark black hair and brown eyes stepped out from the hall, and his eyes locked on me, looking emotionless.
âThis is Vernon,â Alpha Bane said, eyes glowing. âHis job is to stand by this door and make sure you donât leave.â
I watched Vernon for a moment, heart thudding against my chest when I noticed the cold touch to his eyes.
I gazed back at Bane, feeling weirdly uneasy. âWhy canât Brandon, Loki, or Hunter watch me. Or Amber?â
Bane just shook his head as if he was disappointed in me. âBrandon, Hunter, and Loki have to come with me. And Amber is doing something today. My only option is Vernon.â
I gazed over at the werewolf next to him, and he just smiled, tipping his head to the side curiously.
But his eyes were dark.
I gazed back over at Bane, thinking to him, I donât like him.
âTough it up,â he replied aloud. âYou canât always get what you want.â
âBut, Iââ
He then waved at me. âGoodbye.â
And I watched him leave the room in silence.
I then glanced over at Vernon who had his brows raised, watching Bane quietly leave the hallway.
He then gazed back at me. âSo... how are you?â
I blinked at his attempt in conversation, then shook my head. âFine, you?â
He smiled. âA little stressed.â
I rolled my eyes. âTell me about it.â
He was silent for a moment. âWant me to tell you why Iâm stressed?â
I gazed over at him in suspicion. âSure.â
He just watched me, a little light leaving his eyes. âDo you know... Willow?â
I sighed then, rolling my eyes. âBaneâs ex? Yep.â
âShe was angry this morning,â Vernon stated, and I gazed up, watching him carefully. âShe was mad about... you.â
I sat fully then, watching him as he stared at me.
âSheâs like my little sisterâmy best friend,â he explained, something odd catching in his tone. âShe wanted Bane to love her for who she was, and he denied her that.â
âSo?â I countered.
His eyes grew dark. âYou denied her that.â
My stomach sank in my chest.
I didnât like the hint catching in his tone. âI didnât take him from her.â
âDidnât you?â Vernon countered, stepping in the room. âWhat did you do to Bane? Threaten him? Hurt him? Force him to be yours?â
I shook my head frantically. âNo! Heâs the one who forced me!â
Vernon growled under his breath. âDonât lie to me.â
âIâm not lying!â I explained frantically, scooting back on the bed as he advanced toward me.
His eyes grew cold, and mine rounded.
âI guess Iâll get the truth out of you,â he explained as I skittered away from him. âAnd then Iâll make you never want to come back again.â
Before I could get up, he slammed the door closed behind him. âLetâs get started, shall we?â
I gazed up in a panic, crying out when he came at me.
