My dearest friends,

What extraordinary results have occurred from your excellent advice! I have successfully transferred Mrs. Egerton’s essence to the locket you have so kindly provided. There are some concerns, however, so Mrs. Egerton and I are to work on them. However, as the current situation here at Bryden is not conducive to thinking at present (I shall detail all of that tomorrow morning as an appendage to this letter), I hope that you can both provide me some guidance.

First, the spellworking still requires the sight of Mrs. Egerton’s book. We attempted me walking around the corner, and her essence was returned to the book via a strong breeze. That was rather shocking and my heart skipped a beat before pounding rapidly, for I had feared I’d lost her. However, true to her word, she was not affected by the spellworking failure, and only was inconvenienced for but a moment.

One curious side effect of the spellworking is that Mrs. Egerton could only see forward, in the direction she faced. Therefore, as I assisted my sisters with their dancing, at times Mrs. Egerton could see nothing but the inside of my bodice, which I am certain that was not the intention! She had made much sport on that score.

She wishes to know if one of you are able to draw her likeness from memory? If so, we might be able to use that as a more solid anchor, since there will be no uncertainty. I realized this is an impossibly tall order, and we are both accepting that this task may have to wait until after Michaelmas, which we understand, of course.

The hour grows late and my father will soon scowl at me for wasting a candle at this hour of the night to write letters, so I must bid you adieu for now.
