The Zhuang costume features fine brocade and many silver and other metal ornaments, originally added to ward off evil spirits. The shirt is red and long-sleeved. The matching full red skirt extends to the floor. Decorations include multi-colored and patterned rings at the ends of the sleeves, with matching rings at the lower and of the skirt. From the waistband a wide, heavily decorated blue sash covers the front part of the body from the waist to the floor. The effect of this costume is further distinguished by an elaborate red head piece.
