COMPACT BASE
Easy to carry, compact foundations are normally applied with a sponge and are best on young, combination, dehydrated skins. Extremes of dry and oily skins can suffer from a lack of consistent coverage with this type of foundation as the powder will cling to dryness and slide off oily areas. I prefer using these without added water even though this is the recommendation, as they can become clogged and troublesome to apply.
POWDER BASE
These are different from compacts because they are almost pure powder and should really only be used to top up foundation with a matt finish or on mature skins for a light cover foundation. These can be applied with the sponge provided or a brush depending on your preference.
