We talked about the opportunity with data, specifically mining of data for insights and trends. AI builds on this core to adopt learning algorithms that can estimate a probability for something happening and take suitable action. The intelligence part comes in when the consequence of this action, good or bad, is fed back into the system for future decision making. Imagine an AI that can recommend a restaurant based on your preferences. If the best recommendation the machine gives is not what you need, the feedback you provide pipes back into the AI engine. Next time it will remember your preference. This is how AI learns, and AI’s increased intelligence is a huge lift in easing how we work and make decisions. The idea of “Internet of Things” was floated a few years back to describe a new technological concept where everything we use in our daily life is now technologically enabled to communicate and exchanges information. We’ve all heard of autonomous vehicles, but with the advent of the age of “Internet of Things,” the combination of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and high-speed networks, technology will soon enable vehicles, tools, devices that will to talk to everything else, on ultra-fast networks, and making intelligent decisions that benefit the broader community.
