In an ideal world, every child on the planet would know they mattered. All would be safe, sheltered, educated and fed and watered (I love that the Welsh word for child is plant). It’s easy to feel helpless when we hear about child refugees not only having endured horrors but being denied care having survived. Similarly, there may be children in our own families and neighbourhoods we feel need more care and security.

To honour International Children’s Day, we can notice what, in our world, we can do to make things better for a child or some children. It may be taking some kind of environmental action to safeguard the planet’s future for them. Or it may be babysitting for a loved one’s little ones, doing something extra special for your own, volunteering, fundraising or donating money to a children’s charity close to your heart like www.unicef.org.

Maybe it’s simply doing something to honour your own inner child (22/5) or taking Child pose (28/10). What feels good for you today?
