I pulled up at home and saw Jeremy’s Jeep parked on the street. When I drove by, I noticed that he wasn’t sitting in it. I pulled up to the garage, opened the door and pulled in.

When I stepped out of my car I heard laughing. It was a familiar and joyous laugh. I walked out of the garage into the back yard and found Jeremy and Mike (the tiger) rolling in the grass. The backyard was professionally landscaped with a jungle atmosphere. My mom loved to come out here and sit near the pond that was in the far left corner of the fenced in yard. It was an elaborate pond with a waterfall, pond plants, and koi. Bamboo and large full fig trees grew around and provided shade. There were fragrant orchids and passion flowers mixed in among the tress and ferns. I wasn’t familiar with the names of all of the plants, as this was my mom’s thing, but they were gorgeous hues of orange, purple, yellow and red. I tended to stay to the other side of the yard where the pool was located.

Mike noticed me before Jeremy did and he happily pounced over to me. He stood on his back two legs and put his front paws on my shoulders. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought that he was hugging me. He licked my face and jumped down to the ground and rubbed against my legs purring loudly. He was just an oversized gorgeous housecat, with very dangerous and huge fangs.

“Sorry, he insisted on coming to see you. If I wouldn’t have agreed to let him lay on the backseat, he would have run all the way here on his own.” Jeremy joined us and apologized.

I didn’t see any harm in it. I definitely didn’t want him running through town and have the chance of something bad happening to him. The yard was big enough and secluded. I was certain that he would not run off and attack anyone. I told Jeremy he could grab him something to drink from the fridge that was in the garage, while I went in and changed. I walked inside, quickly changed into my swim suit and grabbed a towel. When I emerged from the house I didn’t see Jeremy, I put my towel down on one of the lounge chairs and dove in.

The pool was refreshing. I started swimming laps and my speed astonished me. It was stimulating. I had caused the water to thrash about making waves that spilled over onto the concrete. I waded around once the water became calm again and enjoyed the quiet and serenity.

Mike was lying near the pond, with his head on his front paws completely contented. I could hear his loud purr all the way over to my side of the yard.

“Mr. Thibodaux will be here shortly.” I was startled by his voice, I didn’t notice him walk up. “He’s bringing pizza with him.”

“Good because I am famished.
