‘Wheeeeew! What is that?’ barked Eldric.

‘Oberon, did you find Gildevard?’ asked Timber.

‘He’s busy deciding what to do,’ said the owl as he landed. ‘There’s a bigger problem. A cluster of huge spiders is heading this way.’

Timber barked to the others. The dwarfs looked concerned for the first time since they’d arrived. Even the bats were leaving in a hurry.

‘There’s big trouble comin’,’ said Jugjaw, spreading the word.

‘More trouble than this?’ said Jamie.

‘Uh, oh,’ said Luke, pointing to the trees. ‘Look over there.’

‘On no!’ shrieked Jemima. ‘Not spiders!’
