PUTTING NUCLEAR WEAPONS IN THE HANDS OF ISRAEL’S ENEMIES

Now the possibility of nuclear war has come to the Middle East. While Zechariah says this is a plague that God will unleash on the enemies of Israel, it is America’s own State Department that has decided to give this capability to the radical Islamic state of Iran. For nearly forty years, Iran and its high-ranking Shiite religious authority, the ayatollah, have been waging war with the United States. Anti-American and anti-Israeli sentiment has been at the heart of Iran’s Islamic revolution even before the Beirut marine barracks bombing in 1983. Iran officially claimed no responsibility for the Beirut attack but then in 2004 erected a monument to commemorate bombings and its “martyrs.”4 The bottom line is, the radical Islamic state of Iran is not our friend and it supports some of our other enemies.

In July 2015, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry signed an agreement with Iran that was unpopular in the United States and had many people concerned about the protections it offered to America and the rest of the world. Since the signing of the agreement, Iran has violated its terms on several occasions. For instance, Iran has test-fired a new missile capable of carrying multiple warheads. These warheads make the Little Boy dropped on Japan look like a roman candle in a child’s hand on the Fourth of July. Then, a few months later, they fired two ballistic missiles with long-range capabilities. Again, they test-fired missiles known as “zero error” missiles, which are accurate to within twenty-five feet of their target. These missiles can travel over 2,000 kilometers (1,250 miles), which means they can easily reach Eastern Europe, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Yemen.5

While Iranian leaders dismiss the idea that any of these missile tests are in violation of the agreement, they are indeed in direct contravention of the UN Resolution that governs the “deal.” UN Security Council’s Resolution 1929 indicates, “Iran shall not undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles.”6 Then the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action agreement (JCPOA) states, “All these restrictions shall apply until the date eight years after the JCPOA Adoption Day (18 October 2015) or until the date on which the IAEA submits a report confirming the Broader Conclusion, whichever is earlier.”7 They barely waited eight weeks!

What is their ultimate objective? The Iranian government is dedicated to the goal of dominating the world with what it considers to be the true Islam. They’ll stop at nothing to bend circumstances to this aim.

The ayatollah enforces the law. He imposes rules about what a woman can wear. He decrees what people can eat. He dictates the parameters of behavior and determines what is and what is not morally acceptable. The punishment for breaking his law is extreme and, in many cases, sees the offender publicly executed in the most graphic manner.

I point this out because often people make the naive suggestion, “Why not continue talking with them?”

Answer: because doing so is futile. They have already demonstrated to the world that an agreement with them is really no agreement at all.
