Why is content marketing so effective?

I love content marketing and I’ve built a multi-six-figure business off the back of blogging and podcasting over the last decade. I enjoy the creation process and the craft of making new things in the world, and I consider my podcasts to be part of my body of work alongside my books.

It’s also attraction marketing, offering something useful, entertaining, or inspirational, effectively giving someone a gift and providing value. You don’t have to push, push, push, or blast “buy my book” into the ether. You can put your content out there and people come to you.

No interruption.

No ads.

No hard sell.

Just quiet attraction, which as an introvert, suits my personality down to the ground.

It can also generate income. For example, The Creative Penn Podcast is content marketing for my books and courses, but it also brings in advertising revenue and Patreon subscriptions. My video tutorials on YouTube are content marketing for my books, but they also bring in affiliate revenue.
