If it is to be included in the project, the pith, e.g., a bowl, is best if it is situated along the bowl's side. Do not allow the pith to be fixed on the rim. Though the position and inclusion of the bowl might not be that important, the fact is that you should try to maintain an even thickness for the bowl down the side and at the bottom.

As the green wood turned bowl dries, there will be obvious changes in the project's overall shape. Beginners most times will have the notion that the green turned bowl will maintain the perfect shape that it had after turning; they couldn't be more wrong. There will be distortions, warping, and other shape alterations as the drying process continue. Turning green wood is not ideal for making a project with exact measurements when it has finally "dried" out. Before you start any project making use of greenwood, be certain that you will be willing to embrace the outcome after it has dried out.
