What to Keep

Most organizational books will tell you to find what you don’t like and get rid of it, but I personally find that it’s better to start with what you love. We feel pretty ambivalent about most of our things. But, there are a few items that stick out that we absolutely LOVE. Start with what you love—not like, LOVE. Like all-caps LOVE. These are the things you keep. Everything else should be on the chopping block.

Of course, we also have to keep the things that we need. The washing machine certainly does not excite me and doesn’t inspire any amount of all-caps LOVE or lowercase love, but I do like clean clothes . . . and not smelling bad. Make sure that you’re taking the necessities into account as well.
