Later that month, much much later, long after Sheila had worn down Peg's resistance and shown her some truly wonderful tricks, Sheila whispered in her ear while they cuddled in the dark.

"You told me your mother was teaching you how to steal?"

"Well, she's teaching me how to use magic to manipulate things like cameras and wards, and shit like that."

"Why?"

"Umm, 'cause I got caught rolling mundanes for money," Peg said with a giggle.

"Ah." Sheila nodded in the darkness. She thought about that for a minute. Peg really had been nice to her, and for no reason other than that she wanted to be. In fact, Peg had resisted taking advantage of her for some time now. It really had been more of a matter of Sheila taking advantage.

Because she liked Peg. Peg cared about her. Possibly the only person in her life who ever had. Well, if there were people Peg wanted to steal from, it was only right that she help her new friend.

After a minute, Sheila continued, "So, how'd you like to learn how to pick locks like a pro?"

Peg blinked. "You know how to pick locks?"

"Peg, love. I know how to do all sorts of illegal things!" Sheila giggled.

Peg wrapped her arms around Sheila and hugged her close. "I'd love to."
