Hearing Aids

In the 1800s, the main way for hearing-impaired people to hear better was with an ear trumpet—a large funnel-shaped device that they held up to their ears. In the early 1900s, new discoveries involving electricity helped inventors create some of the first electric hearing aids. People could wear these devices around their necks. But they were heavy, and the battery charge didn’t last long.
