Old sibling tensions may surface during caretaking, final arrangements, or over your parent’s possessions. Realize that emotions run high and each of you grieves differently.

Work things out with loved ones gently, over time. Don’t rush decisions that can wait.

Attend to present feelings. How are you feeling right now? Can you simply “be” with your emotions without trying to change them? Eventually they will pass, like clouds in the sky.

You may have assumed that your parent would “always be there.” But their passing is a part of life, like the passing of the seasons. Try to take comfort in the fact that all of life passes through the same cycles.
