God-like Aliens are So Annoying

Oliver and Babs were lying in bed listening to smooth jazz. The end of another long day, then trying to unwind without drinking. The cost of the raid against the Shaitan bases had been high but the objectives had been reached. “Al wants to have a meeting in the morning at the Core Crew Conference room with us, Marco, Ariel, and David. Marco and David are due to arrive back in a few hours. Know what’s up?” Oliver asked Babs.

“No, Al said he wanted just the grownups for an hour. Sounds like a problem for tomorrow,” she replied closing her eyes.

Oliver was still keyed up after reading the report of the hard-fought battle. And the problems of Muturi were a constant flow. Ben Cohen was doing a good job under the difficult circumstances, but Oliver still stressed over them. With willpower, he turned off his thoughts and just listened to the music. Little by little his body relaxed. Babs snuggled and soon was breathing slowly in a deep sleep. The domestic tranquility and music lulled Oliver to sleep. The pace of his life and the stress of responsibility were taking a physical toll. But this night he slept.

The next morning, David was telling an anecdote of a drunken Wolvine licking his balls in front of an equally drunk female spacefighter pilot when Marco and Ariel walked in.

Marco addressed the group while getting his first cup of coffee. “Sorry for the mystery, but I wanted Al, Gabriela, and Bathsheba to be here when we told you. Then what, if anything, we should do about it... So... A Watcher is still loose. He walked up and introduced himself at the end of the battle. While that is shocking enough, he seems to be contrite about the past and only wishes well for his people. He created the Wolvines more than ten thousand years ago from human and desert wolf DNA. He also claimed the Dragons as his own creation. Most of the other species we have been dealing with are Chimera of humans and some other Earth species. This was something the Watchers did in a very big way. This Watcher’s name is Semyaza, and he is trapped on this one planet. It gets weirder, believe it or not. The Shaitan are not from Earth stock. They were designed by another group of multidimensional beings from the galaxy core specifically to confront the expansion of humanity in its various forms.”

Gabriela’s shimmer intensified before she spoke. “I have always wondered why the aliens we encountered were not more different. This explains at least our recent history. Are the Trelars still protecting us from these Galaxy Core things?”

“Apparently yes, there is a balance of power with the Trelars at that planet. The farther from the core the weaker these others become,” Marco answered.

Oliver was pacing slowly in front of the breakfast bar with a thoughtful look. Everyone including Al seemed too stunned to say anything. Marco expected this and let them process for a few minutes.
