Weston
My girl is a goddamn vandalizer.
Andâ¦sheâs a goddess.
This assignment is long past being fun and games.
How am I supposed to focus on my jobâyou know, the critical task of keeping her safeâwhen she finds new ways to distract my head, and torture my sex, at every turn?
I had convinced myself she was a rich girl; spoiled, shallow.
Sheâs neither of those.
She never was.
Take enough time apart from someone, or something, and your mind can play all kinds of tricks. Anything to help you get some sleep at night.
Iâm starting to rememberâall of it. Her pull, her voice, her scent. She is my girl.
Alluring as hell.
And as I remember those things, Iâm also beginning to forget how important it is to stand back, stay away, donât get too attached to her now.
Too late. Sheâs already snared my heart.
Again.
If only sheâd stop impressing me. Cutie-pie Lace has matured into a stunning woman with poise, wit, and that spellbinding hourglass shape. She is more beautiful than ever. Those curves make my fingers antsy to travel down them.
Not that sheâs only tits and hips and a pretty face thoughâfar from it. Lace did great for her first time at the shooting range. It pisses me off no oneâs ever taught her to defend herself before. She seemed pleased it was me.
And her work ethicâ¦wow. For a âspoiled rich girl,â Lace puts even me to shame.
Iâm an idiot for underestimating her.
And a smart man, because I wonât make that mistake again.
Lace is craving ice cream, so Lace gets an ice cream. This second outing badly oversteps the agreement I have with her dad, but I canât refuse her.
Itâs discomfiting, knowing I may never be able to tell her no. If I could tether the stars, they would be hers.
We tear into our ice cream treats ravenously before they can melt. I park the pickup at a scenic overlook and we get out to sit on the tailgate, making easy smalltalk as we lick and slurp all the way down to the chocolate-coated waffle cones. Just the sight of her is turning me on. Her scent, timeless sage and wild rose, envelops me.
And thatâs the moment my brother Wolff calls. Impeccable timing.
âWhatâs good, bro,â I say evenly, after breathing out an indignant sigh.
âWhy in fuck are you two out right now?â
My chest heaves up to my neck. âAw hell.â I side-eye Lace as I talk to Wolff. âYou know?â
âI know where everyone is at all times. That is my job, Cole. Get that woman back to your cabinârightâthe fuckânow.â
âRoger that,â I grunt. I end the call and tuck my cell away. I chomp down on the last creamy, crunchy bite, then say to Lace, âFunâs over, babe. Letâs go home.â
Swallowing, Lace looks over at me, smiling demurely as if to say, the fun is just beginning.
