Ward Mountain

The gentle summit of Ward, looking south.

Ward is a hulk of a mountain south of Hamilton accessed from a plowed trailhead. U.S. 93 to Roaring Lion. Ascend northeast ridge. Good skiing is limited. 4400-9000. 5 hours.

Camas Point

Crossing Kidney Lake with Camas Point the sunny open peak above.

Looking down the wild and remote North Lost Horse Creek from Camas Point.

About to drop off Camas Point.

Camas Point is a beautiful drainage with options for both mid-winter and spring tours. The drainage is just south of Ward but offers many more opportunities for skiing. Take U.S. 93 to Lost Horse Road, then FS 496 (not plowed). Find east-running ridge below Kidney Lake, follow summer trail. Ascend point west of Kidney Lake. 4WD helps. 4600-8700. 5 hours.
