Chapter 13

Marcus

THE VIPER CLUB WAS a kind of sticky warm that made you want to take a shower just to get the stink off. Unfortunately, it was the closest vampire club to us which only gives us so many options. I'd have much preferred hunting down my prey for the evening, but the others... needed an easy release, especially after the maid kept prancing around the house like she wasn't a beacon for vampires everywhere.

Here, at least, we had a slight reprieve. The Viper Club was all hard lines and shiny surfaces. Even the lighting in here was harsh, washing out our otherwise already pale skin even more, but the couches were the worst part.

Made of some slick, rubbery material, they were scattered around the place in reds and white. For a place that caters to vampires, they sure didn't know what a vampire liked. Most vampires, including myself, were several centuries old. We were used to more lavish, decorative places that strived for comfort than edginess.

I shook my head. This generation.

"Fuck." My head turned as Drake drew out the word. A blonde woman ground against his lap, dressed in only a lacy black thong. His head thrown back and his eyes closed, he gripped her hips tightly with both hands. "Darling, you're going to have me bursting all over my nice jeans."

The blonde simply grinned coquettishly and ground harder, tossing her hair over her shoulder as she offered him her neck. Drake wasted no time sinking his fangs into the woman, and both of them groaned in satisfaction.

I turned my gaze from Drake to the rest of my brothers. Allister was in much the same position as his with twin a woman in his lap and his fangs in her neck. The difference was that his eyes weren't closed, they were staring off at nothing as if he imagined something else entirely in his head. Wynn had three women around him, one on each arm and another rubbing his shoulders. The one behind him played with his hair as he took turns biting each woman, all bare-chested and rubbing up against him like cats in heat.

Without Antoine here, the others really let loose, all except... Rayne. He had yet to take a woman for blood or sex as far as I could tell. Instead, he took up residence at the bar the moment we arrived and hadn't moved an inch. The mind reader scanned the room over his glass of scotch and scowled.

I wondered what he heard that put him in such a bad mood.

Drake let out a grunt as the woman a sighed, causing my head to turn toward them once more. He pulled back with a drunken grin and patted the woman on the butt before gently pushing her off his lap. "Thanks, darling."

We didn't need to pay the women it was included in the club's yearly fee, a substantial amount of more than ten grand per vampire. The women were paid handsomely for it, and from what I could tell, the majority of them enjoyed every second of it.
