Hey, guys. Sorry about what happened at the parade today. If you had sent your e-mail sooner, we could have posted some of our agents at the crime scene. We’re a little disappointed that you ignored our instructions. But we’ll discuss that later.

We have identified the culprits who are “borrowing” your identities. Their names are Fred and Jim Johansen, and they are the sons of your father’s former partner on the police force, Jake Johansen.

Jake was released from prison ten years ago. He reunited with his wife and sons, then relocated to San Diego, California. Last year, a string of robberies in the San Diego area was traced to the Johansen family. The mother was innocent of the crimes, however, and agreed to cooperate with the police. But Jake and his sons managed to slip away before the police could apprehend them.

With this e-mail, we’ve attached documents that include photographs and news stories about the Johansen family. Please look them over—and be on the lookout.
