Chapter Nine

Rachel was excited about the date with Mr. Marcel, everything about him screamed mystery and possibly excitement. Even though she was far from planning to sleep with him, she wouldn’t deny the heady attraction she felt for him. The night after meeting him, she’d had one hell of a dream with a stranger that had her waking up with moisture smeared on her thighs. The small recollection of the dream had her truly puzzled because the face of the person was completely void.

The text from him the next day made her blush ten shades south for he claimed to have been dreaming of her as well. She just so happened to be in a meeting with other leaders in the company. Darian’s blazing gaze bore into her as she tried her damnedest to ignore it. There was no way she could face him after thinking about another so scandalously. A part of her felt disgusted at her wanton behavior, accusing her of cheating of sorts. That part was the seventy-five percent that still pined for Darian in hopes that there was still a chance for them to be a couple.

The logical side which only consisted of twenty-five measly percent was willing to venture out to see what the world had to offer. That part was tired of waiting on the what if and wanted to see what was available in the present day. Eagerness didn’t always equal the right thing to do but it eased the sting of rejection all the same. What was the harm in enjoying the company of other men? She was a sexy, fit, and most importantly single woman. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind that she was indeed desirable, so why not date. Mr. Right could be on the other side of the door of opportunity while she was too busy being a means to an end for one who made no move to make her a part of his life permanently.

“Dang girl, it’s like that?” Monica asked.

“What are you referring to madam?”

“I’m talking about that cheesy grin on your face.”

“Is it that bad?”

“I’m not going to say it’s bad but it is noticeable.”

“I can’t even explain my sudden giddiness.”

“It depends, are you planning on letting him pet the kitty or full out scratch that annoying itch? Yesterday you were cheesing and today you seem to be glowing. Is there something you aren’t telling me about?” Monica quizzed.

“I don’t know what you are referring to young lady.”

“I bet.”

“Seriously, I don’t plan on taking on any type of physical relationship with anyone right now, no matter how bad the itch is. As you so eloquently put it...”

“I don’t know girl. If he is as fine as you say, you better knock off the edge before you go out with him tonight. You will end up like me that night Idris took me home for the first time. I threw all caution to the wind just from him grazing my cookie jar.”

“You were just a little horn dog that’s the only explanation.
