Chapter Eight
Viper shifted back to his human form and stretched. He looked to her with a small smile. âCome on, letâs go see if the place is still standing.â Holding out a hand to her, he met her partway and led her toward the trees, Ladon right on their heels.
Theyâd landed in a clearing a small distance, according to Ladon, from the house. She hadnât seen it yet, but with it being so dark out she couldnât see much of anything, really. Trees, the occasional rock, but not a hell of a lot else.
Violetâs hands were held by both men, them lifting and moving her over the debris that might be in the way. She had to smile, at least to herself, because of what great care they took of her. She loved it, the way that they took care of her and how they ensured that she wasnât harmed over the smallest of things.
âOkay, here we are,â Ladon told her. He pushed a branch out of the way, and they stepped into a much smaller clearing. âViola, chez Viper. Itâs definitely not a palace, but itâs actually quite roomy.â He grinned at her before he gave her hand a tug to lead her toward the two story house that was massive. âTechnically itâs both of ours, though heâs usually hanging out at his parentsâ more often than not,â Viper said quietly.
âAh, gotcha.â She leaned her head to Ladonâs shoulder and gave him a quick hug before pulling away. She moved away from both men and winked. âWell, come on,â she said with a grin. âShow me our home, please?â She looked forward to seeing their home.
Nodding, Viper came toward her, pulling out a key and unlocking the door. He pushed it open, and let her go ahead of them both. âHang on a second, let me get the lights,â he told her. A moment later the warm glow lit up the rooms around her.
She looked around the home and smiled happily up at Viper and then Ladon. âYou are both great. Iâm very happy to have both of you here with me.â She stepped into the home and bit her lower lip. She looked up, and up a bit more. âWow.â The entry seemed to go up into forever. It was actually really nice. âThis is amazing.â
âGlad you like it,â he said. He took her hand and led her through the lower level, which was very open. All the ceilings were double the normal height, adding a sense of airiness to everything. The upstairs, while it still had high ceilings, wasnât quite as grand as the main level. It was more intimate with
