This type of cellular metabolic reasoning helped to put into perspective the direction of enzymatic change which the healers produced. Whatever the enzyme used, the healers always caused changes in activity which would result in a push toward greater health and energy balance of the sick organism. Thus, Dr. Smith's speculation about healers' effects on growth and wound healing via enzymatic change was experimentally validated. This energy appeared to have an almost innate intelligence in the way it could therapeutically distinguish between the different test tubes of enzymes. To the eyes of the healers, the test tubes appeared to contain only clear solutions. They were not trying to induce a change in enzyme activity in any particular direction. They were only thinking about healing. This demonstrates a significant qualitative difference between healing energies and magnetic fields. The magnetic fields could only produce a nonspecific increase in the activity of enzymes. On the other hand, the energy fields of healers could cause variable changes in different enzymes. The direction of change was always consistent with greater health of the cell and organism.
