Suddenly, my king-size bed felt too big and too empty. It needed Sara.

Maybe I needed her.

I couldn’t remember the last time I had a real conversation with someone. A conversation that went deeper than talking about my career with fans or people who I made money for or the mindless chatter with one of the faceless women I spent time with. Normally, I didn’t bother scrolling social media, but tonight, I found myself spending a lot of time going through each picture, analyzing each one, especially the few that both of us are in. Seeing Sara smiling up at me stirred things within… things I may not be ready for, but these photos were undeniably good.

The comments even surprised me. I could live without the ones about Hot Sara, but they weren’t lying. Despite being in a pair of worn jeans, a baseball cap, and tank top, she looked incredible. Hell, she could wear a potato sack and still look gorgeous.

Just as I sat my phone on the charger, it began to ring. Maybe it was Sara? I hoped, but, no, Tyler’s name flashed across the screen.

“Hello.”

“Well, well, well… if it isn’t the animal whisperer himself,” Tyler said.

“Is there something you need or are you calling to bust my balls?” I was tired and not particularly in the mood for Tyler and his jokes.

“Are those balls blue?” he teased.

Before I can answer, a commotion in the background interrupted us.

“Daddy, I want blue balls!” screamed Millie.

I couldn’t hold back the laughter that erupted from me. I had always enjoyed it when Millie overheard a conversation she shouldn’t have. Thank God she was young and had no clue what we were talking about, but listening to Tyler sputter made the entire thing that much better.

“Better get on that, Daddy,” I added while he told Millie it was way past her bedtime. I doubt he even heard me, but I ended the call.

He might have been teasing me, but he wasn’t far off. I was perpetually in a state of blue balls. Drifting off to sleep, I had visions of Sara helping me alleviate my problem.
