He chewed on the piece of straw and hid himself in the thick trees. Lucky for him they didn’t have camps in the winter.

Two people came straggling out of the mines. The back of their heads were covered in dust and their heads were lowered, hiding their faces. He’d set the charges as they went in. The bomb should have blown before they reached the area taking the pretty prom princess with it, but one of the wires must have been tangled because it took longer than expected.

He was kind of glad the officers survived. The thrill of the hunt kept him going. And these two, these two wouldn’t stop until they found him or died trying. That almost gave him cold chills.

As he continued to watch a group of people rushed to their aid.

It wouldn’t be long before they identified the body, discovered the means of death, blah, blah, blah. But it didn’t matter. He’d been careful.

He was always careful.

Just a few more, then he’d meet his quota. The two mistakes earlier had put him behind. But he knew he could do it. Then he could plan for next year.
