"You seriously forgot about her?" Grey griped as we climbed into the van.

"Shut the fuck up, Grey," Andre warned darkly, as he ripped apart the station they had set up while I went to meet Mia. "You can also drive back. Parker, give me your phone."

I handed it over, still mulling over the entire scene. What was Mia up to? After I hurt her pride in the park, she never should have wanted to meet a second time. I didn’t actually think she was trying to fuck us over, but if she did…

"Are we going to send someone after Mia to make a show of it?" I asked.

"Do you think that's wise? She could be setting us up." Andre went straight to the call log.

"I don't think she is." Amorette tapped her chin as she rotated in her seat. Anton sourced a surveillance van for us before making this trip. We'd have to keep it. Not only did it have the same safety features as our standard SUVs, but the seating arrangement in the back was quite comfortable.

I wanted my ass to be comfortable while I pondered over every fucking word and potential motive out of Mia's mouth, damn it.

I hated feeling like I was two steps behind, and fuck if Mia didn't make me feel like that from her cryptic meeting. I hadn’t actually thought she’d have any decent intel. Then again, I hadn’t expected the Dirty Dogs to play nice with her, either.

"She doesn't have any reason to ask for you to make a show of pointedly being against her if she wasn't trying to get a message across to Valentina that she was on her side," Amorette finished.

Andre wasn't paying any attention as he redialed the number that Mia had texted from. It rang twice, and then Pilar answered, just like Mia said she would.

"Hello?"

"Pilar," Andre breathed like he wasn't the worst son in the world to completely forget about his mother, who we’d left at the mansion. But shit. So much had happened. There were probably ten more things we were missing or forgetting because the bombs that kept being dropped on our heads were massive ones.

Valentina's coup. My being shot. Amorette pregnant. Grace missing. Matías fucking us over and dying on us. Asshole.

Irrational anger burned through me. Of everything that happened, Matías' ridiculous choices were what got me the worst. That could have been prevented. Would have if he'd just fucking shared what Valentina wanted and given us an opportunity to change his mind about meeting her. Or at least made sure he was protected.

"I had wondered if you'd forgotten me." Pilar wasn't ever what anyone would call warm and fuzzy. How could she be when she'd been stuck with Vicente for the last thirty years. But today, there was an extra thread of frost in her tone.

"I'm sorry. I've had so much going on. Where are you? We'll come get you."

"That would be hard, considering I've been locked in my room. At first it was my suite, but then somehow, I got blamed for Grey, Lafe, and Matías' release.
