The marketing strategy for the Easy-Bake also changed with the times. In keeping with conventional gender roles of the 1960s, the toy was initially advertised solely to girls, with boys serving primarily as consumers of the baked goods. Forty years later, an Easy-Bake spin-off called the Queasy Bake Cookerator was launched, offering boys the chance to get busy in the kitchen making such detestable delectables as Mud ‘n Crud Cakes and Drip and Drool Dog Bones. Despite all these transformations, the Easy-Bake’s popularity hasn’t waned, and with more than 23 million sold, it continues to endure as a source of inspiration for aspiring young chefs.
