Isaac

After Audrina’s abrupt escape from the cafeteria, not even Sarah had known what was going on, I had been worried. But I had known I couldn’t just leave the cafeteria when I had just arrived, so I had stayed for about ten more minutes, devoured my food faster than a starved lion and pretended that whatever Lauren was telling me was funny.

Then I had left the cafeteria, explaining to a curious Luke that I’d had to go and take a leak. But wherever I had looked, I had not found my Angel. I had gotten more and more worried for each passing second. But I didn’t think she’d gone home, because she would have told me if that had been the case. At least I thought so...

It wasn't until the last period had ended that I realized I could have just called her or sent her a text message, asking her where she was... me and my fucking stupid brain!

Now I was leaning against my car, waiting for her arrival. Of course, a group of people were standing with me, not my request, and I chatted with them as I waited for Audie.

“Man, we’re going to have so much fun on Friday!” Luke exclaimed, eager for the day to arrive.

“Of course we are, dude!” I lied, to keep up my charade.

“So, you’re coming as well, Isaac?” Lauren asked, standing uncomfortably close, almost rubbing her boobs against me. Man, had she no fucking self-respect?! How could these girls ever expect us to respect them, when they so clearly didn’t respect themselves? I truly wondered...

“I just said so…” I mumbled, trying not to sound annoyed, my thoughts still occupied with my Angel.

Thankfully, Luke grabbed Lauren by her waist and brought her closer to him. “He’s as fucking prepared as I am!”

Lauren seemed annoyed by his actions, but didn’t pull away. Welcome to my life, bitch, I thought sarcastically and then sighed heavily. This whole keeping-up-my-charade thing was getting to me, but I tried hard not to let it. All I truly wanted was for the whole freaking world to know about me and my Angel, but, of course, that could never happen.

I finally spotted Audie exit school and felt myself tense up. She did not look happy and refused to meet my intensive gaze even though I knew she had seen me.

“Well, guys, I’ll be going now,” I announced to the group as soon as Audie reached my car. She didn’t even spare me a glance as she opened the passenger door and got inside. Ouch. I heard some complaints as I jumped into the driver’s seat, but ignored it.

“See you tomorrow, dude!” Luke said.

“Yeah man, see you tomorrow,” I replied before closing the door.

As I started our drive home, the silent treatment she was giving me did not go undetected, but I didn’t know whether I should ask her what was wrong or not. Of course I can ask her what’s wrong... right? Worry got the best of me, and I finally opened my mouth.
