We held our breath. It was like watching a movie. The only difference was that you don’t have to keep on looking at the door for mom’s signs while watching a movie. I didn’t know which mom to be more worried about, the one in the camera or the one who could wake up any instant. But it was exciting all the same.

The glare from the flashlight landed straight on our camera. And then we could see nothing else but the glare of the torch. It was just like the very first time we had put the camera, instead of being pitch black like it was last time, it was brilliant white. We fast forwarded it till we reached the end where we pick up the flashlight and camera and turn it off. What a disappointing video!

“Oh no…” I couldn’t keep it in any longer. Our search has been jinxed.

“Our search has only brought us bad luck so far…”

We closed the laptop and put it back in its place. Mom was really finicky about keeping things in place. We both knew very well that if we don’t keep the laptop back in its place on time, it could be confiscated. She would surely get to know we had used it way past our bedtime. I sometimes think our mom likes to confiscate our laptop. She is always looking for new things we do that may allow her to take our laptop away from us. Why did she get us laptops of she takes them back? I feel like all mothers love confiscating things.

As soon as we were done, we curled back in our beds and pretended to sleep. We heard mom coming to wake us up moments later. Phew! We were just in time.

“Wake up, time to rise and shine!”

She always tries to be cheerful while waking us up.

“Surprise!” We both yelled at the same time and we hadn’t even planned it. This was the first thing that proved that we were sisters in about a decade of us living together.

“Oh you both are already up! What is the matter? Let the cat out of the bag!”

I told you she tried to act cheerful while waking us up.

“Nothing mom… Do we only do good things if we want something from you?” I asked. We couldn’t be that bad, could we?

“No…”

Sigh. Mom continued to speak.

“Whenever you want something, you don’t take the pain of doing something good, you just ask and crib untill you’re done!” Mom was joking with us.

We got up from our beds and started to get ready for school. We both got ready 15 minutes earlier than usual. Didi decided to use this time to read her book.

We both were extra fresh and excited for school today. I had to get my results for the Maths Olympiad which I had totally forgotten about. I was forgetting things a lot these days due to being preoccupied with Ginger. She really took away most of my time. I hope I get in though.
