As I was saying, Joãozinho started working out his idea. This is what the idea was: to escape from the hutch whenever there wasn’t any food in the hutch.

You might be disappointed, Paulinho. You might have expected some other kind of idea, you who have so many. But it just so happens that this is a true story. And everyone knows that this is exactly the kind of idea that a rabbit might sniff out. Because his nature is only clever about the things that he needs.

As I was saying, Joãozinho remembered to escape every time he didn’t have food in his hutch.

But that was the problem: how could he get out of there?

The hutch had very narrow bars, and Joãozinho, besides being white, was fat. Of course he couldn’t get through the bars. The only way to open the hutch was by lifting the covering. And the covering, Paulo, was made of heavy iron, only people could manage to lift it.
