Meg
I woke to the sound of running water and stretched out in the huge bed. Lorenzo had left the bathroom door open, and from where I was laying, I could just about make out his perfect bum surrounded by the light shower steam. Yum.
I ached, last night had been a rollercoaster and had ended with me collapsing on my bossâs bed and falling asleep naked and moaning gently as he massaged kinks out of my back after drawing multiple orgasms from my body.
I reached for my phone and felt my stomach sink. My night had ended on a happy note, I was beyond satisfied, but it had taken a lot to get there, to push away the sad confusion that had washed over me after dinner.
Lorenzo had ordered us a huge feast from the best Chinese in town, and after allowing me to thoroughly tell him off for sending Adonis to collect me for no apparent reason, he had convinced me to stay and eat. Damn my traitorous stomach! The telling off Iâd given him did not go unpunished, I had the bruises to remind me of that, and would apparently be making up for it for some time, Hello shit jobs that no one else wanted to do, but the meal had been amazing. Swings and roundabouts.
After we had eaten, Lorenzo had excused himself to check in with Grey on a job, so I took the opportunity to call Toby and explain, somehow. I didnât have any idea what Iâd say to him, and he hadnât answered. Iâd called a couple of times, and each call ended up going to his voicemail. I sent him messages, and hoped heâd just been caught up at work or something.
Now though, the next morning, I still hadnât heard from him. I looked back towards the bathroom and saw that Lorenzo was still washing. So I grabbed my phone and bought up Tobyâs number and pressed the green button to call him.
After three rings he picked up and relief flooded over me. âToby, Hi, how are you?â the words rushed out.
âIâm fine are you ok?â he said bluntly. What the fuck.
âYeah, yeah Iâm ok. Iâm so sorry about last night, I -.â I began, but he cut me off.
âItâs fine. Itâs for the best anyway. I shouldnât have led you on like that. Iâll see you tomorrow for our session as usual.â He ground out the words like they were painful to say, and quickly cut the call.
I blinked in shock. What the hell was that. How had we gone from fun, flirty and about to have dinner together, to this. âLed you on.â I was calling bullshit, there was no way he was faking last night. Not a chance in hell. Unless was it payback for the way Iâd stupidly behaved after our first date? Had he actually convinced me that Iâd get a second chance with him just to make me feel like crap?
My stomach twisted in a tight knot and my eyeâs stung with tears that I refused to let fall.
